The project is located in Gedian Development Zone, Wuhan, with a total area of 520 acres and a building area of nearly 700,000m2. The total capacity of the cold storage is 500,000 tons, and the first phase is to construct a 200,000 ton low-temperature cold storage and Wanton shopping mall. The Wanton shopping mall has a total of 7 floors, including a frozen goods display area, dining area, hotel apartment, and office area. The frozen goods display area is designed with a total of 3,743 frozen goods display cabinets. After completion, it will become the largest and most modern open intelligent cold chain logistics platform in China. The project selects ARCO R744 (CO2)/R515B Cascade refrigeration skid, and adopts a centralized cooling station and hot water combined supply design. While meeting the refrigeration needs of cold storage and display cabinets, the waste heat from the refrigeration system is recycled to supply domestic hot water and winter heating needs for hotels and restaurants in Wanton City. The cooling capacity and heat of the system are fully utilized, maximizing the overall energy efficiency of the unit.

This project focuses on the following characteristics and has played a demonstrative role in the application of natural refrigerant CO2 in the commercial refrigeration industry in China.

◆Environmental protection The use of pure natural working fluid of CO2 with ODP is 0 and GWP is 1. Significantly reduces the GWP (Global Greenhouse Effect Coefficient) value of the project;

◆Energy-saving The application of heat storage technology to meet the winter heating needs of the entire Wanton city; The use of a total heat of 40MW at night heat storage, make full use of the difference between peak and valley electricity costs, to achieve the best energy saving effect;

◆Efficient The design and application of the central cold source freezer group greatly improves the overall energy efficiency (COP) of the system, saving energy by more than 50% compared with the use of independent refrigerators, and also creates the first in the industry;

◆Free The free system operates at full capacity and can also provide 15 tons of 85℃ food grade free hot water per hour;

◆Intelligent Use of cloud monitoring and computation, optimization control, and open communication ports to users can achieve intelligent management and effectively reduce management costs.
